Dr. Siri Gian Singh Khalsa was born in Oakland and raised in Sacramento, CA. He holds a B.A in History from U.C. Berkeley, an M.A. from U.C.L.A. in African History, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from International College. Dr. Khalsa has also studied at Menlo College, the University of Valencia (Spain), and the Sorbonne (Paris, France). He has taught African History, Latin American History, Western Civilization, Kundalini yoga, acupressure, psychology, and shamanic studies in the United States and abroad.
Siri Gian Singh and has been a student of Kundalini Yoga, meditation and tantra for 35 years under the guidance of Kundalini and Tantra Yoga Master Yogi Bhajan, who gave him his Sikh name in 1974. He practiced Hatha Yoga and Transcendental Meditation for five years prior to meeting Yogi Bhajan.
Dr. Khalsa spent six years living in spiritual communities and 11 years living abroad studying with traditional healers. Siri Gian is also a certified massage therapist, acupressure practitioner, and herbalist. He completed a two year apprenticeship with Iona Teeguarden, studied herbology with Ron Teeguarden and Shatoiya de la Tour; studied shamanic African healing with Togbe Agbaga in West Africa and took voice lessons for seven years with Barbara Klein. He was mentored in Reichian Therapy by Dr. Philip Curcuruto, who supervised his 1981 thesis in psychology.
Today, Siri Gian Singh offers breathwork sessions, teaches Kundalini yoga and leads workshops and retreats on acupressure, tantra, live foods and other holistic, life affirming practices.
